MUSICAL INSTRUMENT and SINGING TUITION - is
offered to
beginners and advanced students (children & adults) who wish to benefit from
the experience and holistic approach of a SÓ teacher. Regular performance
and examination opportunities are available and encouraged where they suit
the wishes of students and parents.
DALCROZE EURHYTHMICS
- is a structured and fun approach to learning
consisting of Rhythmics, Improvisation and Solfa. Rhythmics and Improvisation
(particularly suited to children) is a creative and exciting exploration of
musical elements and skills such as form, rhythm, style, shape and
coordination through interaction, improvisation and expressive movement, and
is beneficial to all music students and dancers particularly.
KODALY MUSICIANSHIP - (Solfa) is a progressive and animated method of
developing aural fluency and reflex response to pitch and tonality through
the use of hand signs and the voice. Classes are beneficial to all music
students (children and adults) of all abilities, and classes can be taken
separately from Dalcroze Eurythmics.
ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE - is favoured by performing artists and taught in all major music
and drama colleges, and is a way of cultivating refined
self-awareness, ease and lightness of movement, better coordination and
poise: Alexander Technique sessions are an ideal complement to the SÓ
approach.
THEORY at SÓ - develops fluency and understanding of musical notation, grammar
and language at all levels.
CHAMBER MUSIC & CHAMBER
CHOIR - is an opportunity to enjoy music making as a social, interactive and
shared activity, to get to know a wealth of music repertoire otherwise
untapped and hone listening and coordination skills. Chamber Music is
available for children and adults and is grouped by matching abilities.
ART at SÓ - takes the form of group workshops suitable for children and adults
of all abilities who are interested in a range of expressive modes and in
the relationship between movement, creativity and expression. A variety of
styles will be explored including figurative, sculptural and experimental.
SÓ PROGRAMMES - are for those wishing to benefit from the study of three or
more subjects. For example: Musical Instrument Tuition + Dalcroze Eurythmics
(including Kodaly) + Chamber Music – and are particularly suited to children
including beginners wanting a thorough, structured and timetabled approach.
CHAMBER MUSIC COURSES
(2 day) - intensive chamber music programmes for
students and amateur adults (minimum standard grade 5 or equivalent) who
wish to benefit from coaching with an established and experienced musician
through playing their own choice of music where practical, and give a final
recital for invited friends and family. Suitable for individuals who wish to
be introduced to other musicians or for groups already formed.
PIANO CATS
- A weekly piano workshop for beginners aged 4-7yrs where the emphasis is on
having fun!
