Orsolya Szabó,
Artistic Director

Orsolya Szabó has taught piano at the Conservatoires in Budapest and Szeged, and since 1983 at the Kodály Institute (Liszt Academy) in Kecskemét.  Her teaching career has taken her around the globe.   She has held Piano and Chamber Music Courses in many countries, has addressed the European Piano Teacher’s Association and is often asked to adjudicate at international piano competitions.

She is a member of the International Jeaunesses Musicales Federation, and by invitation of Yehudi Menuhin, has participated in its MUS-E Project.  Her generosity as well as expertise as a teacher has been recognised by awards from Kecskemét Town Council.

Orsolya is a prolific performer on the international stage having performed throughout Italy, Australia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and Canada.  Her awards and prizes are numerous and include acknowledgement of her masterful interpretations of contemporary Hungarian piano works.

Her involvement in arts besides music is significant.  As a student she was national Hungarian Champion eight times in Rhythmical Sport Gymnastics. Her experience and knowledge in this field led her to create a special movement system for musicians (So-system), which she shares with teachers and students through her teaching.

She has had several exhibitions of her paintings, drawings, sculptures and assemblages, including an exhibition at the Hungarian Cultural Institute, London in 2002.  Since receiving her Diploma cum laude in Aesthetics and Philosophy in 1982, she has published four books of poetry.
